Reno in tatters
published: Monday | January 3, 2005

Howard Walker, Staff Reporter

ARNETT GARDENS started the new year on a winning note, blanking Reno FC 2-0 in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League, at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday.

Goals by Kwame Richardson and Jonathan Williams, in the 41st and 55th minutes respectively, carried Arnett Gardens to the comfortable win over the former champions decapitated by an internal rift.

RIFT IN THE RENO CAMP

"There is a rift in the camp and we hope to settle it quickly before we go deeper in the second round," said Carl Palmer of the problem which led to him being in charge of the team previously handled by Boysie Nicholson and Calvin Valentine.

Palmer refused to discuss the issue, saying: "That is club matters, I don't want to disclose it to the public.

"This is my first game with the senior team and I don't even get familiar with the players. You have a few players that I don't even know their names," Palmer confessed to The Gleaner.

Regarding the game, Palmer thought his team played well for 15 minutes before Arnett took control.

Said Palmer: "Up to the first 15 minutes the game was very even but Arnett took the game away from Reno, but it was a competitive game still."

Meanwhile, winning coach Michael Tulloch was disappointed with the quality competition Reno offered, but was satisfied with the result.

"They didn't give us the challenge that we were expecting. Generally, I feel we should have gotten some more goals but a victory is a victory and I am happy for the result," said Tulloch.
