Another Andem deputy killed
published: Saturday | January 8, 2005

Monique Edwards, Gleaner Writer

ANTHONY PEART, one of the trusted lieutenants of jailed gang leader, Joel Andem, was shot and killed by the police on Wednesday night, in the Mud Town community of Papine, St. Andrew.

Popularly known as 'Troy' and 'Rickie Rudie', Peart has been a prominent member of the Joel Andem-led Giddeon Warrior gang for over the past four years. He was gunned down during a shoot-out with members of the new crime-fighting unit, Operation Kingfish.

SPECIAL OPERATION

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) metro officer reported that the lawmen were on a special operation in the Highlight Drive area at approximately 4:30 p.m. when they were greeted by gunfire.

The police returned the fire and subsequently searched the area for the shooters. Peart was found suffering from gunshot wounds and a Glock 9mm handgun with 50 rounds of ammunition was in his possession. He was then taken to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) where he was pronounced dead. The Bureau of Special Investigations is investigation the incident.

A further search of the nearby house yielded 13 rounds of ammunition. The police said they are looking for Kevin Tyndale, otherwise called 'Richie Poo'. They are asking members of the public with any information about the whereabouts of Tyndale to call Kingfish at 811, Crime Stop at 1-888-991-4000, 119 or the nearest police station.

KINGFISH EYEING GANG MEMBERS

Reports are that Operation Kingfish is now closing in on a number of the organised crime gangs and criminal bosses. The law enforcers have also completed their data processing on the membership of some of these gangs.

Meanwhile, Nelson Mandela Park in Half-Way Tree was the scene of another murder in St. Andrew. An unidentified gunman shot Mark Dyce of Adastra Road, St. Andrew about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday. The (CCN), metro officer reported that Dyce was at the park when two men, one armed with a shotgun, approached him. The armed man reportedly opened fire, hitting Dyce. He was taken to the University Hospital of the West Indies where he was pronounced dead.

St. Andrew Central homicide detectives are investigating the incident.
