Call for nat'l prayer
published: Tuesday | January 11, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

KINDLY ALLOW me to express a very deep concern for this nation. I sincerely hope that our prime minister will read and respond positively to this cause.

When Hurricane Ivan loomed, a proclamation was made. People were told to go home and prepare for the hurricane and were given time off from their respective activities to make preparation and they obeyed. The hurricane never hit us directly, as we anticipated.

Now, therefore, please be reminded that we all must appear before the throne of God when He shall return, and His coming is sure. This nation is in bad shape. Prayer is the most powerful weapon that can be used to restore this nation. Call a prayer and fasting for the nation just as you called for the people to prepare for the hurricane. Proclaim that the nation waits before the Lord. Seek Him wholeheartedly and He will have mercy and abundantly pardon.

You called for a special public holiday when the Reggae Boyz were qualified for the World Cup. This time they were not so successful. So, if time and consideration can be given to things of mere earthly value, then please give some time and consideration to the things of eternal value.

Where there is no vision, the people perish.

I am, etc.,

VIVIENNE RICHARDS

St. Catherine
