Marley belongs to Jamaica
published: Friday | January 14, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir;

I HOPE that it is true that Rita Marley is not exhuming Bob Marley's body and moving it to Ethiopia. I read that Bob's mother will not allow it. Nor should Jamaica.

Bob Marley is Jamaica to people throughout the world. Millions of us will not be able to go to Ethiopia to view his grave as we have been able to afford to come to Jamaica.

From what I have heard, his resting place needs better upkeep so that visitors will have a better view of where he lies. If Jamaica needs help in any effort to improve his resting place, surely people throughout the world will help.

Please keep your eyes and ears open and make sure that the government of Jamaica has a say in this instead of the Ethiopian government. We know the history.

His mother should give a statement because in her book, she stated that Bob and her son Anthony (brothers) are buried together and that that is where she wants to be buried (with them).

Jamaica is his home and birthplace. The poor people that he fought for and sang about are throughout the world.Trench Town was his home too and he belongs to Jamaica. Jah Bless.

I am, etc.,
