Comparing murder rates
published: Friday | January 14, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The police are reporting that today, January 10, 39 persons have been killed so far this year - that is 10 days!

It may be of interest to your readers to know that for 2004 a total of 43 persons were murdered in the Republic of Ireland. Naturally, the authorities are very concerned.

I am, etc.,
