TWO MEN who reportedly tied up and stabbed an Air Jamaica flight attendant several times in his room at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, St. Andrew on Thursday night, are now being sought by the police.
The victim has been identified as Wayne Brown, who is believed to be in his mid-20s.
A release from the airline said the Air Jamaica family was shocked and deeply saddened at the brutal murder of one of its flight attendants.
"The police have our full support in their investigations and we ask that no stone be left unturned until person(s) responsible are found and brought to justice," the release said.
Reports are that Mr. Brown joined the Air Jamaica staff in October 2003 and was said to be an exemplary employee throughout his tenure. He was among the batch of 100 flight attendants who were recently made redundant.
NO FORCED ENTRY
It is alleged that Mr. Brown and two men went up to his room Thursday evening. His body was found about 8:00 a.m. yesterday.
A statement from the hotel confirmed that the flight attendant was killed inside his hotel room. According to the hotel's management, there was no sign of forced entry.
Reports reaching The Gleaner are that the police are now processing vital pieces of evidence that were found inside the hotel room.
This is the second major incident at the Pegasus Hotel in under three years.
About two years ago an American national was held up and robbed inside his room. It was reported that the guest answered a knock at the door, believing it was room service. Instead a man with a handgun pushed him back into the room and robbed him of an undetermined sum of money.
