THE DOUGLAS Orane-led Grace, Kennedy is set to start accepting applications for the second round of the Jamaican Birthright Programme.
The eight-week all-expenses-paid programme targets second and third generation Jamaicans between the ages of 18 and 30 who have not lived in Jamaica for any period of time exceeding six months and who are seeking an opportunity to learn and earn in Jamaica.
Having its inaugural stint in early 2004, six candidates will again be chosen for the second run of the programme scheduled for June 2005.
The programme is a cultural and professional internship geared at highlighting all aspects of Jamaican life while furthering the career goals of the selected candidates. It will give successful candidates a well-rounded Jamaican experience.
The candidates will experience a comprehensive job rotation schedule in their chosen career and will be mentored by the management team of the company.
Candidates selected will work on a rotation basis within Grace, Kennedy and Company, therefore, granting them hands-on experience in a wide range of industries. An internship period will benefit the candidate in a variety of ways, including practical experience and mentorship.
Among the criteria for admission to the programme, candidates must be pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate degree pro-gramme and must have a grade 'B' average or higher and must be of Jamaican parentage or grandparentage.
Application forms are available online at www.gracekennedy.com and will close on Monday, February 28.
