Murder rate shocking

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM appalled (not shocked) at the murder rate with just a little over two weeks completed in this a supposedly new year. As a people we are good at whatever we choose to do and being bad is no exception.

In comparing the tri-state area of New York and other well populated black places of habitat we are certainly the runaway leader with our closest rival way behind in a trail of bloodletting. It seems as if we have been taken over by a being of some sort much to our detriment and those of us who can see it are not necessarily in a so-called position to effectively deal/put a dent in it are left to cower once it passes 6,o'clock and all our family members are inside and accounted for.

We are a 'blessed' people whether or not we want to believe it, with what's taking place in the world around us we have a lot to be grateful for. I'm asking the persons close to these individuals doing these terrible acts to his own flesh and blood causing us this bad publicity in the outside as well as at home to encourage to stop, check what their actions have caused on the persons affected as well as their next of kin and the 'snowball' effect that is more than likely to follow given our get back at whosoever at whatever cause nature.
