Another servant gone
published: Tuesday | January 18, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ANOTHER FAITHFUL servant has gone down - murdered. The University Hospital of the West Indies mourns the loss of Dr. Ken Nanton.

Dr. Nanton and his wife graduated in the medical class of 1999 and have faithfully served as doctors in the Accident and Emergency Department at the University Hospital.

How ironic that someone who strove assiduously to save lives could be so brutally gunned down. When he arrived at the Accident and Emergency Department it was just too late. Too late!

When will the carnage cease? Do these murderers stop to think of grieving, heart- broken wife, hurting parents, siblings, relatives, friends, colleagues - persons whose lives will never be the same.

What a colossal loss. He saved so many lives, but when he most needed protection there was no one.

The University Hospital family implores the powers that be to leave no stone unturned to bring the villains to justice.

I am, etc.,

MAUREEN LITTLE,

Medical Social Worker
