THE REGGAE Boyz arrived home last night upbeat about advancing to the Gold Cup after comfortably holding off a spirited French Guiana team drawing 0-0 away from home for a 5-0 aggregate win.

The team are among four which will play in the Digicel Caribbean Cup Finals in Barbados and coach Wendell Downswell said changes are inevitable for the final push to the Gold Cup, and overseas-based players will be included to achieve this objective.

"We will definitely be looking at them to improve the squad but it won't be a wholesale change as such, having looked at the needs of the team," Downswell told
The Gleaner moments after arriving with the team at the Norman Manley International Airport.

"We'll have to improve our condition (physical) and players will get a little break and go back to their club, so we'll get them back re-energised," he added.

DIFFICULT

Meanwhile captain Andy Williams said it was difficult but they did what was necessary to advance.

"They came out high-pressing but we knew our situation so we made sure we didn't lose."

Williams also noted that the performance of the team defensively in French Guiana proved that in future games, if needed, defending will not be a problem and he is confident of advancing to the Gold Cup.

"Right now we are the favourites even though we didn't qualify for the next round of the World Cup. We are the best team in the Caribbean right now and as usual everybody will try to beat us. We know we have a good team and it is just for us to produce the goods," said Williams.
