TIVOLI Gardens' 2-0 loss to Portmore United at Ferdie Neita Park in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League yesterday has forced the club's administration to call an emergency meeting.

After watching Portmore walk over Tivoli through goals from Kevin Deerr (7th) and Dave Clarke (58th), club president Edward Seaga ordered a meeting with the players set for 4:00 this evening.

The defending champions had their most lacklustre performance of the season and were beaten to every ball, while tallying a number of turnovers.

Until yesterday, Tivoli were the only team without a loss. After four games in the second round, they have a win, two draws, a loss and five points.

Tivoli's coach Glendon 'Admiral' Bailey said his players are using their clout as champions as a cushion.

"The players have been playing as if yes, we are the champions, so we can just show up and get the job done being the champions, but it doesn't work like that," Bailey fumed.

"The hungriness that was once there is not there and we need to get back that hungriness," he added.

BELOW PAR PERFORMANCE

Adding to Tivoli's below par performance yesterday was the exclusion of Fabian Davis and Roland Dean in the first half.

Both players spent the first 45 minutes on the woodwork for missing a mandatory Saturday morning practice.

"The energy and the effort that players used last year to come to training and do the work in training is not there," Bailey pointed out.

"Maybe this (loss) is the wake-up call, cause we really need a wake-up call."

On the other hand, a pleased Paul Young was winning his second of three games since replacing Lenworth Hyde as Portmore's head coach.

Portmore's win pushed them to seven points in the second round and are tied with Waterhouse in third place.

Young was filled with praises for his team after their dominating show.

"I'm thankful to the players for the three points; we had a good performance from start to finish," Young said.

"We made a plan to come out with high intensity and get a good first 45 minutes."

In the under-21 match Portmore, the defending champions, won 5-1.
