'They were obedient and well-behaved'
published: Saturday | January 29, 2005

"MI AN no body nuh have nutten fi dem come kill de pickney dem," lamented Michael Williams, the father of four-year-old Shanniece Williams, who was killed yesterday morning in Kilancholly, St. Mary.

Williams told The Gleaner that he was at his house in the nearby Frazerwood district when he heard about the killings. He recalled that some months ago he and a man in the district had a dispute and so he moved out of the matrimonial home to his other home in Frazerwood district, to avoid a conflict with anyone in the area.

BRIGHT AND OBEDIENT CHILDREN

He described his step-daughter, SuAnn Gordon and stepson, Dwayne Davidson, as very bright and obedient children on whom he was committed to spending all his earnings, to ensure that they progress in life.

With his hands on his head, Williams vowed that the children will not die in vain and the murderer will have to be brought to justice.

Maureen Sibbling, a cousin of the children, said that they did not deserve to die that way, especially when they were so obedient and devoted to a Christian life.

Meanwhile, classes at the St. Mary High School in Highgate were disrupted for most of the day as a result of the expression and outpouring of grief from both students and teachers.

Guidance counsellor at St. Mary High School, Reverend Tyrone Wellington, said counselling will have to be administered to both staff and students as the school tries to recover from this tragic loss.

Dwayne was also a member of the school's cadet force and several of his colleagues spoke highly of him and said that both the school and the cadet unit will miss him dearly.
