Police probing another lead into St Mary murders
published: Tuesday | February 1, 2005

Ocho Rios:

FOUR DAYS after three children were brutally murdered in Kilancholly, St. Mary, the police in the parish have still not been able to make an arrest.

A male deportee who was taken into custody on Friday was released on Sunday after the police investigation failed to link him to the crime.

However, the police say they
are now hot on the trail of another suspect whom they believed can definitely assist them in their investigations.

Officer in charge of the Highgate Police Station, Sergeant Dwight McPherson, told The Gleaner yesterday that the police have been receiving good cooperation from residents, saying that all leads are being closely followed.

Yesterday, Information Minister Burchell Whiteman disclosed that the government would underwrite funeral expenses for the children.
