China VP arrives today

VICE-PRESIDENT OF the People's Republic of China, Zeng Qinhong, will arrive in the island this morning at the Norman Manley International Airport to start a three-day official visit, covering the launch of the China-Caribbean economic trade fair and forum, which begins this week.

Mr. Zeng will meet with Prime Minister P.J Patterson at his office, following which, a number of agreements will be signed by officials from China and Jamaica. This will be followed by a press briefing by both leaders.

Vice-president Zeng will round off the day when he is hosted at dinner at King's House by the Governor-General, Sir Howard Cooke.

OPENING ADDRESS

Tomorrow morning, he is expected to address the opening ceremony of the China-Caribbean Economic Forum at the Jamaica Conference Centre. In the afternoon, he will cut the ribbon to open the China-Caribbean Trade Fair at the National Arena.

Mr. Zeng is scheduled to hold a meeting with Caribbean leaders attending the forum and fair, followed by lunch. He will also meet with members of the local Chinese community and visiting entrepreneurs. Later this evening, he will be a guest at the prime minister's reception at Jamaica House for delegations attending the forum and fair.

After a number of private engagements on Thursday, his final day, Mr. Zeng will visit the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies. He will also visit the National Gallery and the Bob Marley Museum.
