Let us all fight crime
published: Friday | February 4, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE MONSTER of crime and violence is once again in the public domain.

The killing of the St. Andrew Technical student and the young children in St. Mary illustrates the magnitude of the crisis.

For quite some time, there has been a steady increase in domestic murders. Can we continue like this? Do we want to be internationally known as a crime haven?

The question really is how do we solve this mammoth problem?

I have no reservation in recommending that the death penalty be resumed with immediate effect. These murderers need to recognise that the state is very serious.

The ballooning of the criminal activities is to be blamed on every Jamaican. If you pay a police to clear a ticket, don't pay your taxes, know of criminal activities, and say nothing to the authorities you are just as guilty.

I call on every decent Jamaican to provide the requisite authorities with the full details of all criminal activities that they are aware of.

Let us all come together and fight this ugly demon or else the next victim could be you or me.

I am, etc.,
