TURN JUST about any drab bedroom into a love nest in time for your special Valentine's night.Follow these simple steps from interior designer Francine Chin and sweep your Valentine off his or her feet.
PAINTIf you feel like changing the whole feel of the room then a new coat of paint will work wonders. To create warmth and 'romance' go for hues of red, oranges, yellow or anything with orange or undertones of brown or caramel.
CHANGE THE BED COVERSThis doesn't have to mean red and white sheets. Place long stem roses on the bed or in a vase of water on a nearby table.
LIGHTINGCandles are fast and easy and can work wonders. Get aromatic scented candles. Get various shapes and sizes and place in interesting arrangements.
If your bedroom window faces the street and has a lot of light coming in, simply buy some material and drape over the window. Get material that won't fray at the ends when cut. Swag the material over the rods to make it drape.
Get coloured light bulbs to give the room a great glow. Get gold or yellow. Frosted bulbs, if the walls are off-white, give a warm hue. If you have a lamp, change the shade to brown or red.
TASTYDon't forget your ice bucket by the bed. Chill your champagne or place a fruit bowl on crushed ice. Make an arrangement with strawberry and grapes and place whipped cream on top. Don't forget the chocolate.
THE BATHROOMThis can become a focal point for your special night. If you have a tub, fill it with water and add bubble bath. Agitate the water to get the bubbles going and sprinkle petals on top. The petals will lie gracefully on the bubbles.
Place candles on the floor and turn off the light. Be sure to run the bath just before you get in or as soon as your significant other gets home. You could also trail rose petals to the bedroom door.
Put sexy flowers such as roses or tulips or lilies in the bed or bathroom.
