WESTERN BUREAU-

MANNINGS SCHOOL will continue their quest to retain the County of Cornwall Athletics Association's (COCAA) double today when the eliminations of the boys section of Western Champs is held at Cornwall College, starting at 10:00am.

Mannings, who won the double last year, lead the girls section with 138 points after last Friday's eliminations at St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) and look well set to repeat in the boys' category.

13 FINALS

At least 13 finals are expected to be completed today before the joint finals set for Catherine Hall next Tuesday. The finals down for completion today are the discus, shot put and 1500m in Classes One, Two and Three along with the high and long jumps in Classes Three and Four.

Seventeen schools are down to take part including defending champions Mannings, hosts Cornwall, Herbert Morison, Lewisville, Rusea's, Munro College, Anchovy, Grange Hill, William Knibb, Godfrey Stewart, Green Island, St. James, Albert Town, Maldon, STETHS, Maggotty and Balaclava.

Mannings' national representatives, Hickel Woolery in the Class One discus and shot put and Flavian Blagrove in the Class One 200m and 400m, are expected to dominate as well as Herbert Morrison's Keneil Lee in the Class Two 100m, 200m and 400m events.

William Knibb Memorial's Quinland Hines, who had the fastest 400m in Class Two at the recent Alpart/STETHS Invitational 52.1 seconds, will hope to put his name among the winners.

The Class One sprints will also be competitive with Cornwall College's Ravel Grey and Alex Graham clashing with the Munro pair of Duran Brown and Mikhail Miller, the latter formally of Rusea's.
