THE Racers Athletic Club, boasting track luminaries such as Olympic gold medallist Aleen Bailey, World Junior record-holder Usain Bolt and World 100 metres Champion Kim Collins, recently received a donation from Abbott Laboratories and Cari-Med Limited, makers and distributors respectively of the Ensure line of nutritional products.
The gift, which includes warm-up gear, Ensure products (particularly Ensure Plus) and cash, has a total value of over $400,000.
DEEPENING INVOLVEMENT
Making the presentation at
the Stadium East track on Thursday was sales manager, Northern Caribbean for Abbott Laboratories, Claude Braithwaite (second left). He expressed his
company's pleasure at deepening its involvement in the development of track and field.
"Ensure is a natural fit within an athletic team, given the nutritive value of the product, and this is certainly one of the finest and most vibrant groups of athletes," he said.
In accepting the gift, national head coach Glen Mills, who is the coach of the RAC team
and a self-professed long-time user of the brand, said it had become an integral part of the team's training and overall
fitness regimen.
He further cited the product's benefits in helping to prevent muscle cramps and also in building mass and boosting energy.
