Cops nab fugitive
published: Sunday | February 13, 2005

POLICE ARE remaining tight-lipped as to whether a man netted by Kingfish yesterday morning in Black Shop, John's Hall, St. James, is Kevin 'Richie Poo' Tyndale, said to be one of Jamaica's most wanted fugitives.

Tyndale, who had a $100,000 bounty on his head, is believed to be the second lieutenant of the infamous Gideon Warriors gang, led by incarcerated reputed gang leader Joel Andem.

The gangster was detained along with two others, one of whom is said to be a major player in the criminal underworld.

Reports are that shortly after 3 a.m., residents in the area were awakened by a banging on a door in the community. The banging was followed by voices shouting, "Bwoy, open di door now!"

At a press conference at the police commissioner's office, ACP Hinds said he could not reveal the identities of the men as this could prejudice cases in which the men are said to be involved.

He pointed out that at least one of the men arrested was wanted in connection to three murders, three shootings and one robbery. "He is a suspect in 19 other serious crimes, including murders, robberies and shootings" ACP Hinds said.

He said the men had not yet been interviewed and could not say when they would face the courts as this depended on the suspects' lawyers.
