SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:

THE POLICE in St. Cathe-rine have welcomed the announcement by Police Commissioner Lucius Thomas of additional resources and personnel in the parish to fight crime, and especially murder.

The Gleaner went to several stations in the parish and spoke to police personnel and they all said that it is a blessing as the crime wave has a demotivating effect on their performance, and that with additional resources they can do a better job.

SUPPORT FOR NEW METHOD

"I will be supporting the new method employed by the commissioner as this can only give good benefits to the question of crime control in the division," Superintendent Wrenford Robinson of the St. Catherine north division said.

He said that for the most part he has tried his best, but due to a lack of resource and personnel the best was never good enough.

Mr. Robinson said that the men under his charge can now focus more on helping the crime-ridden communities return to a state of normality.
