DETECTIVES ATTACHED to the Kingston Central CIB re interrogating
a 20-year-old suspect in connection with yesterday's gruesome triple murder
at James Street in Central Kingston.
Reports are that the suspect was picked up before noon, shortly
after the police had completed examining the crime scenes. Up to late yesterday,
he was being processed by the Scene of Crime Unit. It is alleged that samples
of blood were found on his person.
Further allegations are that the suspect who lives doors apart
from the victims, was also implicated in a reported case of rape, which occurred
yesterday, hours before the triple murder, in the same
community.
EARLY MORNING SHOOTING
One of those killed has been identified as 34-year-old Neville
Johnson, alias 'Nev', the reported area leader of the 'James Street Posse' in
the 'Spoilers' community of Central Kingston. He
was murdered along with his mother
and girlfriend at their homes in James Street.
The police said the shooting occurred at about 3:30 yesterday
morning, but they arrived at the scene some three hours later when they were
alerted by residents.
Johnson's body was found on the porch of his house, lying on
the back, with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Several yards away, the body of his girlfriend, 38-year-old Pauline
Galloway, was discovered in the couple's bedroom. Clad only in her underwear,
Miss Galloway who was sitting up in bed, with the head slumped to the right,
also had multiple gunshot wounds.
Police investigators believe Mr. Johnson was called out of his
bed by
persons known to him. After pulling the door, he was held at gun point and taken
outside on the porch, where he was killed in execution style. Miss Galloway
who was still in bed was killed next.
The most gruesome of the three killings was that of Johnson's
49-year-old mother, Jennifer Williams. Acting Deputy Superintendent Michael
Phipps, said there were signs of forced entry. Her body was peppered with multiple
bullets.
Allegations are that Johnson who ruled the "James Street Posse"
for over four years, has fallen out of grace with a
small pocket of men in that part of the
community. The Gleaner understands that the fallout is in relation to
a major work programme scheduled to start soon in Kingston.
