George's book spot in quarter-final round

ST. GEORGE'S College booked their spot in the quarter-final round of the JIIC knockout schoolboys' cricket competition after beating Ardenne by 63 runs at Emmet Park on Tuesday.

Final scores: St. George's 254 for six off 40 overs; Ardenne 182 for four.

Michael Jackson, with an unbeaten 99 and Steve Logan with 88, highlighted St. George's victory.

Jackson, who hit eight fours and two sixes off 100 balls, and Logan, who struck 11 fours and one six in his 89-ball knock, put on a 123-run second wicket partnership after Marlon Johnson (seven) went with the score on 36.

Dean Robinson was the chief wicket-taker for Robert Samuels-coached Ardenne with 2-42.

In reply, Ardenne were restricted to 182 for four, despite a fighting unbeaten knock of 63 from Ron McCrea Cushnie, who had earlier retired hurt. Orville Williams supported him with 26.

KC CRUSH MEADOWBROOK

Meanwhile, Kingston College (KC) crushed Meadowbrook by nine wickets at Meadowbrook.

National Under-19 captain Jamie Trenchfield was in brutal mood, scoring 98 not out off 83 balls, which included 13 fours and two sixes.

Trenchfield and Christie Jones, 26, put on 126 for the first wicket as KC raced to 165 for one off 24 overs.

Earlier, Meadowbrook were restricted to 163 off 40 overs. Jamie Watt led the way with 52.

Marlon Perry took 3-24, Maurice McKay 2-23 and Trenchfield 2-28.

In Grace Shield Premier League action at St. John's Road, St. Catherine and St. Jago played to a draw, despite a big century from former National Under-15 player Rasheed Outar.

Batting first, St. Catherine reached 254 for nine declared with Outar hitting 163 not out. Outar struck 15 fours.

Jermaine Grant took 4-35 for St. Jago, who reached 93 for three at the close.

CALABAR DEFEAT JC

At Calabar, the hosts defeated Jamaica College (JC) by six wickets.

JC first made 160 with Marc Robinson, 31, and Oliver Walker, 31, getting most runs. Sadeki Bolt claimed 4-27.

In reply, Calabar achieved their target, 162, with the loss of four wickets. Jermaine Gordon, 51, Oniel Wright, 53, and Bolt, 32 not out, led the way. Andre Jackson took 2-48 for JC.
