St Jago retain titles

ST. JAGO High retained both their titles at yesterday's Windalco-sponsored North Central Athletics Championships at Ewarton in St. Catherine.

The girls team, weakened with most of their top athletes missing, tallied a massive 447 points to beat their nearest rivals St. Catherine High (158) by 289 points.

The top 10 in the standings were completed by Ferncourt (152), Guys Hill (109), Ocho Rios (77), McGrath (85), Ewarton (45), Cumberland (45), Dinthill (42) and Charlemont (23).

In the boys' section, St. Jago scored 334 points to beat Dinthill (145) and Ocho Rios (111).

St. Catherine (94), Ferncourt (94), York Castle (65), Guys Hill (58), Aabuthnot Gallimore (54), McGrath (45) and Charlemont (43) completed the top 10.

The highlight of the meet came when Ocho Rios' Nickel Ashmeade won the 100m, 200m and 400m.

Meanwhile, St. Jago girls made a clear sweep of the 200m.

Jhanelle Bryan (25.64) won Class One, Sasha Matthias (25.82) took Class Two, Jody-Ann Henderson (26.86) crossed the line first in Class Three and Jevene Bennett (26.09) was the Class Four champion.
