IT WAS all 'hats' on deck at the Liguanea Club on Sunday, February 20. The Annual "Hats on to Easter" is a fund-raising event by the Hearts and Ideas organisation and supports various children charities. So women (and a few brave men), don their finest chapeaux to raise funds every year for these more than worthy causes. Ambassador Madge Barrett chose this year to pledge her continued patronage of the event. Good show ambassador!

MOUTH-WATERING BRUNCH

Brunch was simply delicious as guests sampled the newly launched Reggae Jammin' fish sticks which went down well with creamy tartar sauce. To complement the fish, fried potato strips and smoked chicken from Best Dressed Foods were all devoured. Guests also enjoyed wine courtesy of Arosa and various cheese, compliments of Le Gourmet.

But the entrance to the terrace held the real treat. Chocolate Fondue courtesy of Chocolate Dreams presented mouth-watering temptations for the gathering. The delights included mushrooms just waiting to be dipped into the creamy chocolate sea below.

The highlight of the afternoon get-together was the parade of hats. Hats from the collections of Angela's and D'Choix boutiques, the ladies showed off various pieces of headwear from the wide-brimmed to the top hat designs. They spun

around the 'catwalk' to soothing music such as "This I Promise You", "Crazy" and "Take A Bow". The colours were as varied as the designs including coral pink and sand/beige with a few hats sporting 'Easter' colours, orange and green.

The hat competition was a keen one as eight contestants including little Chadae Kameka (all of eight-years-old and full of style), vied for the title. Tina Sherman in a delightful purple and yellow headpiece took the coveted prize.

Things got comical very quickly when it was time to judge the men. Seven men got to choose hats they thought they looked good in (whether that is possible is another story). Somehow seeing grown men parading (with attitude and chic no less) always has the desired effect of stomach-splitting, roll-in-the-aisles comedy. Glen 'Titus' Campbell (who was the DJ spinning those sultry tunes) was undisputed winner and no, it wasn't helped by the fact that he waved his wallet for judges to see.

Entertainment was provided by the Stella Maris Dance Ensemble, Kemeisha Bolton from the Kenny Salmon Production Group and a group from Children's First.
