Double triumphs for terrific trio

THOMAS

WOLMER'S DEASIONE Reid, Queen's High's Samantha Henry and Tacius Golding's Tamika Thomas were double winners at last weekend's University of The West Indies' Invitational meet held at Mona Campus.

Henry won the 100m in 12.20 seconds then returned to take the 200m in 24.20, both in the 16-17 age group category.

Thomas' victories came in the girls' Under-19 1,500m (4:56.20) and 3,000m Open (10:53.80) where she defeated Ebony's Areita Martin (11:15.50).

Wolmer's Reid won the boys' Under-17 800m in 2:03.10 and the 1,500m in 4:27.10 .

Asha Coley of It Dat won the boys' Under-19 100m in 11.00 over St. George's Adrian Melvin (11.20).

UNDER-19 CHAMPION

Matthew Palmer of Wolmer's was the boys' Under-19 200m champion, winning in 21.90.

Okice Davis of Bridgeport (25.50) and Holy Trinity's Andre Jonas (25.50) shared the Under-15 200m title while Corey Spauldings of St. George's (11.50) took the 100m.

Joel Jackson of Mona (11.20) took the 16-17 title while Kevin Williams of Ardenne was victorious in the 200m in 22.10

Queen's Latoya Greaves won the Under-19 200m in 24.30 ahead of her teammate Crystal Wilson (24.70).

However, Wilson returned to take the 400m in 58.80. Kerone Robinson of Holmwood (49.20) took the boys' Under-19 400m.

Davian Parker of Holmwood (1:55.90) defeated his teammate Kenneth McFarlane (1:57.50) for the Under-19 boys' 800m crown.

Danzeto Cephas of KC took the 16-17 400m in 51.40.

Shelly-Ann Fraser of Wolmer's ran 11.80 for victory in the Under-19 100m, beating Greaves (12.3).

The girls' 16-17 400m event went to Kerisha Dawkins of Tacius Golding in 1:02.00 ahead of St. Mary's College's Zaven Henry (1:02.30).

Kay-Ann West of Bridgeport took the girls' 12-15 section of the 800m in 2:24.60 ahead of Shara Kaye Heslop of Tacius Golding (2:24.90), who win the 1500m in 5:40.90.

Donahue Williams of KC (2:12.10) won the boys' 14-15 800m.

Faschika Granstan of Bridgeport won the 16-17 event in 2:26.90 over Mona's Nardia Nesbeth (2:27.80).

GIRLS' 4X100M

The girls' 4x100m Open was won by Queen's (47.70) over their B team (50.20). Bridgeport (44.90) defeated Ascot (45.50) for the boys' title.

In the women's 200m, Janeka Martell of MVP/UTech won in 23.90 over Jenice Daley of It Dat (24.10).

Daley returned to win the 100m in 12.00 over MVP/UTech's Shericka Williams (12.10).

Alexander Burton of JDF (22.00) beat MVP/UTech's pair of Patrick Lee (22.10) and Gregory Little (22.10) in the men's 200m.

MVP/UTech's Evana Allen (1:55.50) won the men's 800m while Wainard Talbert of Jamalco (15:59.60) won the 5,000m.

MVP/UTech Kaydian Howell took the 800m in 2:22.90.

G.C. Foster College's Kedine Geddes leapt 6.22m in the women's long jump open for victory.
