Alleged drug kingpin's home raided
published: Thursday | March 3, 2005

Glenroy Sinclair, Staff Reporter

THE POLICE yesterday raided the home of St. Ann businessman, Norris 'Dedo' Nembhard, seizing two go-fast boats, which are now undergoing forensic investigation to establish if they were involved in any drug running.

Nembhard, who was designated a drug kingpin by United States President George Bush in June last year, is currently fighting extradition proceedings to the USA, where he is wanted on several drug-related charges. Nembhard was arrested last February on a provisional warrant.

Reports are that the team of officers swooped down on Nembhard's home in Salem, St. Ann, early yesterday morning and took away the boats. Since last October, Operation Kingfish said they have seized more than 44 go-fast boats.

According to Sergeant Steve Brown, forensic investigation has revealed that some of the boats were transporting narcotics. Some of the vessels have since been returned to their rightful owners.
