CARLTON Barclay has resigned as treasurer of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), effective this month end.
The federation confirmed the move in a press release yesterday.
It stated: "Citing mounting professional commitments, both locally and internationally, JFF treasurer Carlton Barclay has tendered his resignation, effective March 31.
"He has expressed an interest to volunteer his services to the federation whenever he is available, in other capacities."
Barclay was the former Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) president.
He relinquished that post shortly after being elected as JFF treasurer on the Crenston Boxhill slate at the federation's Congress in November, 2003.
Upon receiving the release after 5:00 p.m. yesterday, a number of calls were made to the mobile phones of Barclay and JFF president Crenston Boxhill to get further details. The only response was a mailbox prompt without an option to leave a message.
Meanwhile, the JFF release went on to thank Barclay for his contribution to the organisation, saying: "The federation publicly conveys its profound appreciation for the expertise he brought to the post for the past 15 months."
It added: "The JFF will announce a suitable replacement shortly."
