Carifta trials on

MCLAUGHLIN

THE 2005 TWO-DAY Carifta Games trials runs off at Stadium East this afternoon, starting at 12:30.

Athletes will be vying for Under-17 and Under-20 spots on the national team as well as continuing their build-ups to this month's Boys' and Girls Championships.

Sonita Sutherland, Schillonie Calvert, and Anneisha McLaughlin of Holmwood, Edwin Allen's Sherene Pinnock, St. Jago's Natasha Ruddock, Camperdown's Romaldo Rose, Akeen Smith and Kimona Smith of Morant Bay, Bridgeport's Camoi Hood and Natoya Goule of Manchester are some of the top juniors expected to be on show.

This year's Carifta Games will be held at the newly refurbished Dwight York Stadium in Tobago.

At last year's Games in Bermuda, Usain Bolt ran 19.93 seconds to break the world junior 200m record. Jamaica won a record 79 medals, 37 gold, 23 silver and 19 bronze.
