'Iffa Nuh So' cops 12 Actor Boy nominations

WITH THE announcement of the nominees for the Actor Boy Awards 2004 the 2004/5 Pantomime, Iffa Nuh So has stepped in the lead with 12 nominations earned in the technical theatre and music categories. The production is one of the seven productions up for the Best Production award when the award ceremony takes place on March 22.

Iffa Nuh So earned four of its nominations in the Best Original Song category along with nominations in Best Original Score and Best Musical. It also earned nominations for Best Original Score, Best Lighting Design, and Best Costume Design.

A new category, best special effects has been introduced in the awards which are staged by the International Theatre Institute. Iffa Nuh So was also nominated in that category, contending with two other musicals, Moses and Into the Woods.

Moses comes a close second to Iffa Nuh So marching off with 11 nominations. The Father Ho Lung play and Iffa Nuh So are up against each other in eight categories including lighting, costumes, and set design. Moses has also received nominations in the acting category through Wynton Williams (Best Actor in a Lead Role) and Karl Williams (Best Supporting Actor).

The play's director, Alwyn Bully received two Best Director nominations for Moses and Purlie. Trevor Nairne also earned two Best Director nominations for Ras Noah and the Hawk and The Last Stand.

The acting categories also provided people who earned double nominations. Maylynne Walton received a Best Actress in a Lead Role nomination for Making a Killing and Best Supporting Actress for I'll Be Back Before Midnight. Maurice Brian also earned two Best Actor in a Lead Role (No Disrespect) and Best Supporting Actor (Purlie).
