THE EDITOR, Sir:I WOULD like to commend two or three persons.
Firstly, there was this young girl who helped me with my bag up to the corner of Princess Street and Beckford Street, downtown Kingston. Much thanks, my dear. I did not get your name, but God bless you.
When I reached that corner, there was no taxi there. I saw a pleasant looking man and asked for his assistance.
Without question, he took the bag completely and walked me to the bus stop enquiring of drivers if this was the right bus.
When I asked if I could give him some money, I will never forget what he said. He said: "Do not tell me that things have reached the stage where just to help a person from one point to the other requires pay? If that is the case I don't want to be a part of it."
His name is Constable Johnson but I am not sure which police station he is stationed at.
Another person is a pharmacist, Mr. Patterson of the Greater Portmore Pharmacy. He is a beautiful mix of information, kindness and professionalism. One just needs to call with a complaint and he is willing to make a suggestion and advise to check with the doctor too.
I just wish to thank you all for restoring something in me and for giving me the renewal of spirit to get up and face another day, knowing that there are still persons like you out there. Sometimes not even in the Church can one find those persons.
I am, etc.,
