WESTERN BUREAU:

Tivoli Gardens confirmed their place in the semi-finals in the Under-16 section of the ISSA/KFC national basketball play-offs after beating Muschett High 58-52 at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.

Tivoli won five of their six games in the second-round and will take one of the two places from Zone A of the competition for the next round that tips off on Monday.

The Kingston school led by as many of 18 in the first quarter but had to dig deep late in the game to hold off Muschett, who outscored them in the second half and came as close as two points in the third period.

Muschett, who won just one of their second-round games, was also helped when Tivoli's top player, Havando Dunn, was forced to sit through most of the third period with three fouls.

Dunn led all scorers with 29 points and had 17 rebounds, Raphael Thomas scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Chavis Hamil-ton had seven points.

Andrew Topping led the Muschett scoring with 14 points, Jaime Bernard had 12 points, while Steven James scored 11 points and had eight rebounds.
