Howard Walker, Staff ReporterTHE JAMAICA Football Federation (JFF) has completed the formal process of appealing the fine of US$5,000 approximately. J$310,000) levied on it by the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) following the absence of Jamaica's National Anthem at the opening ceremony of the Digicel Caribbean Cup in Barbados last month.
In a press release yesterday, the JFF also insinuated that Captain Horace Burrell, a former president and chairman of the CFU Disciplinary Committee is not aware of what is happening with the appeal case after receiving a letter from Kerri-Ann Alleyne, CFU's General Secretary on February 28.
The CFU letter stated that according to the constitution of the CFU, an appeal against the decision of the Disciplinary Committee must be accompanied by a fee of US$1,000 (approximately J$62,000) which will be refunded if the appeal is upheld.
According to the JFF statement, the US$1,000 fee was paid on March 7.
In light of this, the JFF says Capt Burrell continues to state that the fine must be paid and that the case is close, "obviously, oblivious of the CFU's stance.
