Gynaecologist charged with rape
published: Sunday | March 13, 2005

THE DOCTOR who is alleged to have raped a patient at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital last month was charged yesterday by the Denham Town Police with two counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault.

He is Matt Myrie, 31, of a Kingston address, who was employed as a gynaecologist to the maternity hospital.

Allegations against the doctor are that on February 26, he took a patient from Ward Five to the hospital's ultrasound room for a medical examination. During the examination, the patient was allegedly sexually assaulted.

Myrie is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on March 15. He will be represented by attorney-at-law Hugh Thompson.
