Bryan 'wines' to victory
published: Tuesday | March 15, 2005

By Nathelie Taylor, Gleaner Writer

Stacy Ann Bryan 'wining' her way to victory on Sunday night.

PRIOR TO THE 'Tiney Winey' contest, 20-year-old Stacy Ann Bryan was seen 'wining' all by herself on the outskirts of the crowd last Sunday night at the Supreme Ventures Carnival Blowout at Folly Oval, Portland. And, one just had to wonder if this flexible young thing, wearing short denim shorts, would consider entering the contest.

Bryan did more than that. With smooth, exotic type movements, she 'wined' herself into the finals of the 'Tiney Winey' contest to be held in Kingston on Carnival Sunday.

Slim and svelte, Bryan truly personified the mesmerising elements of a wining diva, doing things that the inexperienced really should not try at home, as she danced away to the aptly chosen song Tiney Winey.

While a crowd favourite, Bryan was not a runaway victor though. Her main competition danced right beside her, a rather bootylicious woman who rolled her pink-clad plumpness in a very pleasing way.

At least so the men thought, because at least two female patrons at the front turned their noses in disgust when this contestant turned her pronounced 'bumsie' to the crowd and shook it like a well-set jello.

Of the five women who entered, it was these two who showed any real affinity for wining, so it was no surprise when the crowd's cheers guaranteed a showdown between both.

It was then that Bryan showed her mettle. While her competitor slowly 'wined' up and down, Bryan added more creativity and spice to her act, clinching the Portland Tiney Winey title.

Bryan was not surprised she won though because, as she states, she has proved to be a champion dancer at previous dance contests.
