Children pay a high price
published: Tuesday | March 15, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM WRITING on behalf of the National Youth Council of Kingston and St. Andrew. I must say we deeply sympathise with the parents of the four youths that were shot and killed in the drive-by shooting in August Town, on March 6. Also the seven-year-old girl who was shot in Spanish Town.

We know that words cannot fill the emptiness you are feeling, but the Lord our Supreme God understands. He will help you through your grieving moments. Our deepest condolences are with you.

The children are paying too much of a heavy price for something they are not responsible for. Stop killing the youths! They are the ones who will become nurses, doctors, and teachers, etc., to help us build a better Jamaica.

Gunmen, I implore you to stop for a while and think before you pull the trigger. Don't deprive them of their future.

I am, etc.,

JUNE WILLIAMS

President

National Youth Council

Kingston and St. Andrew
