THE EDITOR, Sir:ALVIN DAY is a Jamaican that we all can be proud of. He is a great Jamaican whose humility makes him even more remarkable.
My deep admiration came from his presentation on Saturday, March 19, at the interfaculty lecture theatre on the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies.
Mr. Alvin Day is proof that being from the 'country' and growing up with your grandmother are assets, not liabilities. His grandmother is immortalised in his work. The experiences that he shares in his presentation and his book, If Caterpillars Can Fly So Can I, are deeply rooted in the wisdom and faith of this remarkable woman. Thus, he pays tribute to all good grandmothers who stand in the gap for their sons and daughters. He also demonstrates that a 'country' boy can be anything he wants to be.
The best thing about Mr. Day is that he teaches all those who are willing to learn, how to fly. He shares his flight manual with all those of us who want to soar. Mr. Alvin Day is a Jamaican of whom we all can be justly proud. He is a good ambassador-at-large for Jamaica.
He is a management consultant, author, inspirational speaker, seminar director. He operates in the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, South America and the Caribbean.
