EASTER CELEBRATIONS on Montego Bay's Hip Strip started with a bang last Thursday as the city's 'fashionista' converged on Coral Cliff's Rum Jungle Caf&e for the 'Rhythms of Fashion' show.

The brainchild of 21-year-old designer Glenroy March of D'Marsch Collections, the show displayed a wide array of functional fashion, which could easily be taken off stage and worn on the streets of Montego Bay, St. James.

The evening, which showcased all-Jamaican designers: Heather Laine, Mushroom, Dexter Pottinger and D'Marsch Collections, started off with a daring prelude which had models from the Montego Bay- based Show Jam Agency (SJA) posing with guns and belts 'dominatrix style'. This sent a clear message to the audience of what was to come.

Creations by Heather Laine were the first to grace the catwalk. The designer known for her soft linen pieces, had the audience captivated by her neon pink and green ensembles.

Swimsuits by Mushrooms had male patrons drooling after the SJA models who worked the catwalk.

The Jumanji Band preceded Dexter Pottinger's designs and set the ambience for the designers 'simple couture' creations of causal tees and pullovers ideal for springtime.

The piece-de-resistance came when D'Marsh's creations hit the catwalk. Known for his flare and pizzazz, his pieces ranged from couture to casual.

A highlight came when Rochelle Watson, international model sauntered unto the catwalk in a two-piece ensemble. A brief wardrobe malfunction resulted in a peek-a-boo moment that sent the audience to the edge of their seats.
