Environmental abuse in Santa Cruz
published: Monday | March 28, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I wish to bring to the attention of government agencies responsible for environment, the wanton shaving of the Santa Cruz mountainside. It's frightening to see the abuse of the mountain.

Driving into Black River from Barbery Hall district going on down to the Crane Road, pull over for a while and see the vast patches without a tree standing.

I can understand the need for landless people trying to help themselves to these lands.

However, if this situation continues, people living on the lowlands will soon have the Haitian experience during hurricanes and floods.

I am, etc.,

ARTIE PARCHMENT

Great Bay, St. Elizabeth
