FIRST-TIME JAMAICA representative Natoya Goule is set to return to the island this afternoon with two gold medals from the Easter weekend's XXXIV Carifta Games in Trinidad & Tobago.
The Manchester High School student won the 1500m (4:39.05) on Saturday's opening day and the 800m (2:15.13) on yesterday's final day at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.
"I am feeling good," Goule told The Gleaner after her race yesterday.
She continued: "It's my first year and I won two gold medals, so I want to thank God for helping me, also my teammate (Teneisha Davis) for winning these gold medals."
She won the 1500m by beating Davis (4:44.45) and in yesterday's 800m, she again beat Davis (2:14.44) for the top spot.
The 13-year-old Goule said of the two races, the 800m was the most challenging.
"The 800m was challenging, because another girl (Latoya Griffith, third place finisher) tried to win us, but we pushed out and finished first and second," the Girls' Champs triple gold medallist said.
Goule said her performances will make her mother and father feel good about her performances.
"I think they will feel good, especially my coaches. They will be proud of me," she said.
She predicted correctly. Her mom, Paulette Goule, was very excited.
"Oh my god, I can't express my feeling. The whole family is just excited. We don't know what to say," she reacted when contacted via telephone from Tobago at her Manchester residence.
Her mother added: "My husband is crying tears of joy, we are very proud of her. She is my daughter and I don't even know she was like that (so brilliant).
"I am getting calls from relatives and friends all over."
Goule says she hopes to do better times, adding her wins at Girls' Champs were easier because of the support she received back home.
"My teammates always pushed me but here I don't see anyone who did that."
