THE EDITOR, Sir:I FOUND THE articles by the 'police friend in England' about Robert Peele very interesting and so was the one by Colonel Douglas about the JDF and the police in general.
The one issue they all forgot to mention is the bigotry and hypocrisy that has eaten away at the once great British police establishment.
It has a very bad record of abuses on blacks, established racism and worse, so many deaths in custody, by police chasing and yet no officer in its entire history has ever been prosecuted.
At least, the Jamaican public does cry out and protest and usually gets justice. I say we cry out more and force the government to change the rules to ensure the police perform and behave more professionally. Only then will the general public come to respect the police and assist them more. It is the public who are the eyes and ears for them.
So why do we encourage the British to stop us from prosecuting and hanging criminals like other Asian countries? They have zero crime and there is no record of the United States or the United Kingdom putting or enforcing embargo on these countries to stop.
Well, if we did the same, we would have better policing, less crime and the world would look at us more as the safest place for business and pleasure.
Come on my people, time to push the government for action and time to support the police and army to clean up our country and restore its beautiful name. Out of many, one people.
I am, etc.,
