THE NATIONAL Democratic Movement (NDM) has accused the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) of violating the Political Code of Conduct, and is calling on Political Ombudsman Bishop Herro Blair to address the matter.
According to the NDM, it wants the JLP to remove posters of the party's West Kingston candidate, Bruce Golding, which the NDM said have been plastered on Duke Street in Kingston, near Gordon House.
The NDM, which Mr. Golding helped to form in 1995, stated in a press release on Friday that the defacing of buildings violates clause six of the Agreement and Declaration on Political Conduct the two major political parties signed in 2002 at Gordon House.
"The NDM is very disappointed in the actions of the JLP and in particular Mr. Golding as we are of the opinion that with him as the new leader of the JLP it would not be business as usual," the party added.
Jamaica Labour Party chairman Ken Baugh said that while he did not personally see the flyers, some overzealous party supporters might have pasted them on the walls. He said it is not the party's policy and instructions have been issued for the posters to be removed.
