Banana Bread Bake-Off
published: Thursday | April 7, 2005

No monkeying around, we're on a serious hunt for the best banana bread in the land

WE'VE BEEN going bananas for months, climbing the walls for a finger or two of our favourite fruit.

Ever since Hurricane Ivan peeled away acres of bananas last September we've been in a bind with nary a hand to be found.

So now that bananas are reappearing in markets, supermarkets and roadside stalls, Food is staging a grand welcome back celebration.

If you can you spread the warmth and joy of a few fingers of golden yellow bananas into a melt-in-your-mouth, must-have, to-die-for banana bread, you need to hop on board this bandwagon.

Tell us about your banana bread at lifestyle@gleanerjm.com; fax, 922-6223 or 948-1804; mail or drop off, Food, The Gleaner, 7 North Street, Kingston.

DEADLINE: APRIL 19

NOTE: To participate in the taste off, where the winner will be picked, you must be able to deliver your banana bread to The Gleaner on Monday, April 25 or Tuesday, April 26.
