THE FATHER Ho Lung's musical Moses parted through the sea of nominees and spirited away the Best Production trophy for the Actor Boy Awards 2004. Moses earned a bountiful six trophies of the 11 distributed on Tuesday night.

The awards ceremony took place at the Little Theatre Tom Redcam Avenue. In contrast to last year's ceremony, the event saw a full house.

It was also a great night for the play's director Alwin Bully. Bully had received a total of four nominations. He copped the newly introduced award for Best special effects for his work on Moses. With the inclusion of the burning bush and the parting of the Red Sea in the production, this should not have been surprising.

Bully also nabbed the Best Director award for his work on the Jamaica Musical Theatre production Purlie.

The accolades refused to end there as Bully was also given a special award for his contribution to the awards which are staged by the Jamaican chapter of the International Theatre Institute.

The 2004 Actor Boy awards was artfully hosted by Karl Williams who was making a return trip in the role. The audience was clearly expecting great things from him on the night as his arrival, hoisted aloft and wearing pharaoh head dress was met with enthusiastic applause.

He clearly lived up to the expectations keeping the proceedings lively and energetic. Williams also helped to increase Moses' bounty by earning the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Rameses.

The 2004 Awards also included a tribute to George Silvera, who died late last year. Silvera had dedicated 30 of his years to work in technical theatre.

Another theatrical stalwart, director Buddy Pouyatt was the night's honouree.
