MAY PEN, Clarendon:
THREE PERSONS have died while two others remain hospitalised in serious condition after an accident on the Four Paths main road in Clarendon yesterday.
Dead are 46-year-old Janet Williams, a teacher of Goshen district, Clarendon; 10-year-old Kayla Williams, of the same address, and Leroy Bailey, a 23-year-old taxi operator of Black Woods district also in Clarendon.
Hospitalised and in serious condition are Leonard Williams and Kacey Williams.
According to investigating officer Constable Llewelyn Wynter, at around 6:45 a.m., Mrs. Williams and her two children were travelling in a bus, driven by her husband Leonard, towards May Pen. A taxi, driven by Bailey and heading in the opposite direction, overtook another vehicle resulting in him having a head on collision with the bus in which the family was travelling.
All five persons were rushed to the May Pen Hospital where three were pronounced dead and two reported to be in serious condition.
Constable Wynter said he is making a public appeal to motorists and their passengers to use their seat belts while travelling, disclosing that persons who died in this accident were not wearing seat belts.
