CMI dangerous goods course for MoBay

THE CARIBBEAN Maritime Institute (CMI) will be conducting a course on the 'Transport, Handling and Storage of Dangerous Goods' from June 8-10. The course will be held at The Pelican in Montego Bay, St. James. from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

It aims to equip operating and management personnel with the necessary knowledge and understanding required to appropriately manage significant environmental aspects related to dangerous goods. It will provide practical guidance on the implementation of current legal requirements made by the International Maritime Organisation's (IMO) IMDG Mandatory Code (January 1, 2004) to ensure that dangerous goods are handled, stored and transported responsibly.

All persons who manage, handle or are exposed to hazardous chemicals/goods are urged to attend this three-day course. Such persons include:

Customs officers

Public health officers

Management and staff of Shipping Agencies

Freight forwarders

Custom brokers

Wharf companies
