WESTERN BUREAU-
RED-HOT FAVOURITES Seba United has taken a big 5-0 lead over Granville after Sunday's first leg finals in the Captain's Bakery Western Confederation Super League at Jarrett Park.
In-form striker Wilfred Smith scored his fourth hat-trick of the season to lead Seba who jumped out to a 4-0 lead after just 28 minutes and look unbeatable going into next Sunday's finals at the same venue.
Smith scored in the 10th, 18th and 61st minutes while Kemar James in the 5th and Norman Foster in the 28th were the other scorers.
Sunday's win was Seba's 14th in their last 15 outings as they continue to completely dominate the rest of the competition.
HIGH-QUALITY GOALS
The Paul 'Tegat' Davis-coached unit looked fit and in complete dominance as they have scored 15 goals in the last three games without conceding any.
Smith's goals were top quality, as the Granville defence that shut down Mt Salem, one of the top offensive teams in the preliminary rounds in the semi-finals, had no answers.
His first goal was a thing of beauty as the former national Under 23 player used his brilliant close ball skills to beat two defenders in very close quarters before unleashing a powerful shot past hapless goalkeeper Carter Hanson.
He put his team 3-0 up with his second in the 18th minute when he produced a burst of speed to get him by two defenders and beat Hanson at the near right post.
FINISHING TOUCH
He completed his night's work 16 minutes into the second half when he picked up a pass from Foster on the left side of the Granville penalty area, dribbled side ways across the area before kicking past Hanson to the top right-hand corner.
James had opened the scoring after just five minutes when sustained pressure from Seba paid off as he chipped the ball under the advancing Hanson and watched it roll over the goal line.
Foster's goal was maybe the best of the night, however, the veteran former national player dribbled for over 40 yards before unleashing a powerful shot past Hanson from some 30 yards out.
Granville's lone chance came late in the game when captain Navado Fisher forced the Seba goalkeeper Alrick Henry to go to his left and deflect a curling shot for a corner.
