A Caribbean challenge
published: Thursday | April 28, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

VIRTUES FOUND in the pages of the Holy Bible, such as hope, faith, peace, kindness, joy cannot be found so accessibly in any political science or international relations textbook.

This is a fine moment for the leaders of the Caribbean to establish our region as a 'region of righteousness', a 'sanctuary of sanctity', a 'haven of holiness'.

It would be our finest moment should we as a region take the age-old scriptures to heart, giving it an ample chance to be proven true. If our leaders would make the bold, radical move to establish the region as 'Bible-based', resisting the influence of those 'liberalist' nations that facilitate their own radical approach to directing their regions, then I am sure righteousness would exalt our nations, and this region.

This a challenge for the Caribbean community to stand and be counted. May our leaders truly take a stance to establish that goodness that has in the past exalted such strong nations like the United States.

I am, etc.,
