Big names missing from Penn Relays list
published: Friday | April 29, 2005

Bolt ... ready to move in Philadelphia

THE JAMAICA Athletic Association has released the names of the athletes who will represent the country at the 111th Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this weekend.

However, a few big names are missing.

Olympic Games 200m and world No. 1-ranked Veronica Campbell, world No. 1-ranked sprinter Asafa Powell, Olympic sprint relay gold medallist Sherone Simpson, Olympic 400m hurdles silver medallist Danny McFarlane and Michael Frater will not be in action.

Campbell's absence is due to school commitments while it was said that Simpson will be running for her school, University of Technology (UTech).

It was not clear if Powell, along with Frater, Ainsley Waugh and Winston Smith would be running for the MVP team, a move which is highly possible.

However, World Junior 200m record holder Usain Bolt, Aleen Bailey, Tayna Lawrence and Brandon Simpson are included.
