THE JEHOVAH'S Witnesses Kingdom Hall building,a St. Andrew landmark near New Kingston, has been sold for approximately US$1 million (J$62 million), and will be converted into an upscale condominium complex for resident and visiting professionals.
Once used as the local headquarters of the church, the three-quarter acre property and building has been on the market for roughly six years, and real estate sources say that the purchaser is former Digicel executive, Carl O'Brien.
"Yes, I can confirm that we're handling the marketing of the south beach-style condos, but I cannot disclose any particulars about the deal", said Century 21/Heave-Ho Properties' CEO Deborah Cumming last week.

A condominium is a multi-unit residence where the individual ownership is limited to the space occupied by each unit, along with a share in the common elements, which are owned jointly with the other condominium unit owners.
With Jamaica's increasing urbanisation, condominium developments have become an increasingly popular choice for middle and upper income home buyers. The Kingdom Hall is just the latest in a series of prominent structure that have been developed.
