Man loses appeal for reduced sentence
published: Wednesday | May 4, 2005

A MAN, who was sentenced in 1999 for shooting and wounding a man on election day in 1997, was unsuccessful on Monday in having his 20-year-prison sentence reduced.

Colin Gordon, a 45-year-old labourer of Big Lane, Central Village, St. Catherine, had appealed on the ground that his sentence was manifestly excessive.

The Court of Appeal, after hearing legal arguments, dismissed his appeal.

CHARGES

Gordon was convicted by Justice Howard Cooke in the Gun Court of charges of illegal possession of firearm and wounding with intent.

Gordon was in prison awaiting the outcome of his appeal. The Court of Appeal ordered that Gordon's sentence should begin from March 15, 2000.
